ntfix.com This utility is handy if you want to install WinNT 4.0 to a partition which begins after 2 gigabytes. The NT installer is buggy and stops working after the first reboot if the NT partition begins beyond 2 gigs. |
1. | Start NT installation |
2. | The first time NT reboots the computer, boot with a DOS system diskette with NTFIX on it and run NTFIX to patch the buggy boot sector. |
3. | NTFIX will save a file called bootsect.dat. You must locate the old bootsect.dat, which is on one of the NT boot disks (or on the harddisk in a hidden directory if you install NT without boot disks). Replace this old bootsect.dat with the new one. |
4. | Reboot to continue NT installation. |

Bootable floppy This is a ZIP compressed image of a bootable floppy containing the shareware version and a free CD-ROM driver. This is handy if you have only WinNT/2K/XP, OS/2 or Linux, because these systems are not suitable to install MasterBooter. Of course, once installed, MasterBooter can handle these systems without problems. Uncompress the floppy image, and save the it to a blank floppy using rawrite or WinImage. The operating system on the floppy is FreeDOS (a big thanks to the development team!).
